MICHAEL LAGMAN (BUILDING IMAGES)

MICHAEL LAGMAN

I like Michael Lagmans' work because he has taken photos where it includes the culture and traditions of not one but many pacific cultures.

I really like Cindy Sherman's work because of the feeling in black and white makes it more emotional or gives it more life.

Untitled Film Still #3, 1978

In this picture for example it gives the viewer a feeling that she has hatred or disgust in her eyes whilst staring in a certain direction.

SELF PORTRAIT CHOSEN PIKZ-LENZ BASED

"THE CHALLENGE IS 2 CHOOSE WHICH PATH YOUR DESTINY TAKES YOU...NOT WHICH DESTINY YOUR PATH WILL TAKE YOU"-SOULZ TALOSAGA

"I AM A SOULJAH, I CHOOSE 2 FIGHT THE WAYZ OF CHOICE"-SOULZ TALOSAGA

What I like about these two portraits is that they both have a sense of hope, faith and inspiration towards the person who views it. I also chose to go with the bottom portrait because of its strength in not only the meaning but the gesture/pose up against the poster/flag of 2pac. 2pac having lots of inspirational music and poetry gave me the idea to come up with a quote that could or would represent something in my life and I did. With the top portrait I was a bit disappointed because of the wrist band I was wearing didn't fit within the theme of the picture. So if I did a second picture of the top portrait I would take the wrist band off and keep everything the same. With the bottom portrait I like how there is shade on my back but I think I would prefer to have the shade covering not only my back but the background as well apart from that I really think it is very strong and inspirational and wouldn't change anything apart from the shade.
